NEW YORK - The death of a British passenger and injuries among several others have been confirmed following a Singapore Airlines flight from London to Singapore encountering severe turbulence. The flight, SQ321, was carrying 232 passengers and 19 crew members.

According to passenger accounts, the turbulence struck suddenly, launching people and objects across the cabin. Witnesses reported seeing oxygen masks dropping from the ceiling as the plane shook violently. Paramedics and firefighters rushed to the scene upon the plane's landing in Singapore, where the deceased passenger was pronounced dead.

The cause of the turbulence is still under investigation. However, preliminary reports indicate that the flight encountered a sudden downdraft, which caused the plane to drop sharply.
